Early this morning I was at my computer working. It was dark outside. I looked up from my computer screens and noticed movement on the other side of the window in front of me. It was a big black bear looking in at me.
Now I know what it feels like to be the Monkey in the window at Zoo. |

Well, Heidi finally talked me into going around the area and doing the Tourist thing. First we went to the Garden of the Gods. This is Heidi's favorite new place, "In the Whole World". It is breath taking.

Next, we went to a place Xen has been begging us to go. Cave of the Winds. We drove up a mountain about 6000 and some feet. Then we signed up for a "lantern" tour. This was a tour of the caves using a fire lantern. I was great! The tempature in the caves was about 65 degrees. Our guide told us ghost stories about how the cave was discovered and turned into a tourist trap. Xen was getting scared at times but hung in there. He loves the whole cave hiking. So did I.

Xen had his second hand ball match against the Gold Camp Elementary school. It was a chilly 60 degrees with major cloud cover. But this did not cast a shadow over the Pinon Valley pride.
Xen scored two of the eleven points made during the match. He also assisted in many of the other goals.
It was a great day, for the "Mad Man" Xen. |

Today was a busy day for Xen. Had to be at school at 7:00 am for Handball practice. After school, straight to Handball practice. Immediately after practice, right into his first Handball game. Below are some of the action shots from the game.

The game ended in a tie 5-5.
After spending 1 hour of none stop running, Xen was off to ice skating lessons. He was exhausted before ice skating. But manage to complete the lesson and was promoted to ADVANCE ice skating class. We grabbed a bite to eat, and Xen went to doing his home work. Needless to say, he went straight to bed with no hassel. |

Xen spent most of the morning doing his home work. Around 11:30 am MT, he was finally finished. We packed up the car and headed off to the Colorado Springs Zoo. The cost per person was: $12 per adult and $6 per child. Or, you could get a family membership for $69. We opted for the family membership which lasts one year. We had a coupon for $5 off. $64 for access for one year for the whole family? What a deal!.

Here are some pictures of the House in Colorado Springs.

Disclaimer: Heidi is still making the house look homey. She thinks it looks too bare. |

Heidi and I went down to the DMV to get our Colorado Driver's License and voter registration. They mail the new driver's lincense out within 2 weeks. So, we both have a piece of paper saying we are legal drivers. I thought Florida was backwards!!
We were able to register to vote in Colorado at the same time. That was a bonus.
Heidi and I went to our first Open House at Xen's new school. They really have dedicated teachers! The are enthusiastic and all about the kids.
Xen seems to have made quite an impression with his teachers. |

The movers came back to the house to unpack the Dining Room table.
Most of the unopened boxes are in the basement or garage.
We are starting to get into a routine.
Almost normal!
Heidi and I took Xen to ice-skating class. He loves it. He is really starting to get the hang of it. |

Today is the first day of trash pickup for the Miller family. Heidi and I hauled it down the long driveway to the curb. I was out of breath. Heidi didn't fall. So it was all good. We did have quite a bit of trash after the move.
We received a call from Xen's school. Seems he has a little rag weed fever. Heidi took some Benadryl to give him. Hope that's all it is!

Xen had a long day today. He had hand ball at 7:00 a.m.. School all day. He went straight to choir following school. When he returned home, it was off to his bedroom to do homework. |

Xen was busy most of the day catching up on his school work. Heidi and I were busy with Home work.
We did go out to the pasture, where the 3 horses are being kept. Fed them and played with them for about an hour. |

Heidi, Xen and I spent most of the day removing our belonging from the boxes they were packed in. We hung pictures on the walls. The guest room is being used by Xen as a "play" rooom. His computer, PS2 and TV are all in the guest room and functioning. Heidi hung pictures in our bedroom. Not as many as she did in Winter Garden.
We went to Home Depot to purchase a few items for the house.
We also stopped by SAMS to get a kitchen table.
The house is starting to look more like a home.
Heidi's new DELL computer came in. I spent about 3 hours moving her old stuff to the newer, faster computer. |

I spent most of the day working remotely for Seminole County Public Schools. Trying to get the VPN working correctly. I had trouble FTPing to the production box. Enough about work.
Heidi went to meet All State movers. She was moving the 3 horses to a new pasture. Closer and less expensive. She asked if I would pick Xen up from school because she may not make it home in time to do it. No problem!
Xen had a great time at school. As we turned down our street toward our house, I looked over in the neighbor's yard. There stood 2, count them 2 large 8 point Bucks. They were not afraid of the car. In fact, they didn't even notice that I stopped so Xen could get a better look at them. Again, I did not have a camera. The Bucks were eating apples out of an apple tree in the yard.
Xen loves animals and was thrilled to be able to see these two magnificent beasts out in nature and not behind a cage in a zoo.
The weather was awesome! 75 degrees and no humidity.
On our way out to eat dinner, we happened upon these three.

Yes we finally had our camera with us. |

This morning I was working on my computer. Around 5:45 a.m. My computer is in the basement of the new house. The desk faces toward the front of the house. Behind the monitors is a window about ground level, on the outside. I was logging in... and I saw a large black figure pass by the window. I thought it was a neighbor's dog, but noticed that the hind quarter was low to the ground. I ran up stairs and told Heidi and Xen that I either saw a large dog or black bear walk by my window. We all went to the kitchen, which over looks the back yard, and saw a 150 lb. black bear in our back yard. We all were amazed and excited at the same time. We watch the bear sniff around the back yard and climb up the hill and out of site.
We did not get pictures of it because my cell phone and Heidi's camera were in the car. And neither of us were brave enough to go out and get them!
After some time we went out and found our trash had been rummaged through by the bear. We didn't care, but we are putting our trash in the garage from now on.
Around 5:00 p.m., the family went to the skating rink. I haven't been on ice skates for over 25 years. After an hour, I was getting the hang of it. But it was time to go. Xen promised me that we would be coming back!
 Not bad!

With only two hours of sleep under my pillow. Heidi woke me and said that we were going to a festival. It was the largest Hot Air Balloon showing in the country. We pack ourselves into the car at 5:45 a.m. and were off to a near by park.
They say pictures say a thousand words.
