Xen and Matt got to meet Brian Jacques, the author of the Redwall Book Series. He is a well known writer of children's fiction book from Liverpool, England. He was very funny and the 200 plus kids in the audience just loved him. He spoke for an hour and then signed everyone's book. It was a great experience.

Friends at the convention

Marty sent me a picture he took of us at the convention. Marty is on Heidi's left side and Cliff is on my right.

They are both great guys and love magic. Marty is a guard at a maximum security prison and Cliff is a fireman.

It is hard to believe that it has been 5 years since the attack on America. Thank goodness it was an uneventful day.

Last Day of Magic
Leave comment
Bob Sammons had a Junior lecture. (I did not go to it)

Kostya Kimlat followed with his lecture. I did go to it. I was most impressed with his stuff.

After lunch, Eric Mead did a lecture. I went to that too. What a great way to end the convention.

We had Dinner with Bob Sheets, Charlie Frye and his wife, Kostya and Mr Richardson.

We went to bed earily because we had to leave earily in the morning back to Denver/Colorado Springs.

What a GREAT convention!

The Magic continues

The day started off with a John Rogers lecture. I did not make that lecture, instead I spent some time with Eric Mead and Bob Sheets.

After the John Rogers lecture, Charlie Frye had his lecture. Not only is Charlie a magician but he is a wonderfully entertaining juggler. I was most impressed with his skill sets.

After lunch was the first close-up show. Each performer was unique and entertaining. One was from Orlando, Florida. I think I first met Kostya when he was about 15 years old. He has matured. He is now 23 years old and great performer.

The public show started at 7:30 PM. What a SHOW! Xen was in total amazement.

Ater the public show, there was another show back at the Hotel with some of Doc Eason's friends.

Xen was tired after all this. Me too!

Official start of the Convention

The convention started off with a show put on by the Junior magicians. There were some great acts. Magic will be in good hands in the future.

Jeff McBride, as seen on TV, had a lecture. Xen was thrilled to see hime and meet him. Xen was also surprised to find out that his Dad knew him. And what was more Jeff remember me! :)

After the great lecture, the Dealers room was opened. The Dealers room is a room filled with magic shop owners that sell their items on site. Xen was in awe.

Later at night, Aldo Colombini lectured. Xen was pretty tired by the time this lecture was scheduled. Aldo had a great "easy to do magic" lecture.

Late Night Bar Magic!

The Magic in the Rockies begins!

After Xen finished his testing at school, Heidi and Xen drove up to Denver and pick me up on their way to Fort Collins. It took us about 1 hour and 10 minutes to get to the Marriott.

Not much was going on when we arrived. We checked in and relaxed a little before the big weekend began.

Colorado State Fair

We went to the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo, Colorado. It was no Florida State Fair. But we had a pretty good time. The crowds were small.

Xen rode many of the rides. Heidi and I enjoyed watching Xen scream and enjoy himself.

Xen and I took a picture with an alligator that was born in Colorado.

Notice that the mouth of the alligator is not taped. In Colorado it is not a law.

Xen playing in the water fountain.

Magic at the Movies

It was a little brisk this morning. It was around 42 degrees. Xen started the fire place and was curled up in a blanket next to it.

We went out for breakfast and we all had a sweat in tow.

Xen, Heidi and I went to see the movie the "Illusionist" starring Edward Norton. The magical consultants were Ricky Jay and Michael Weber. We all enjoyed it. I think I was more into it then Xen and Heidi.

Fall is Here in Colorado
Leave comment
It is the first of another month. It was about this time last year that I was driving up my steep driveway to the new home in Colorado Springs. Can you believe it has been a full year? I can't.

The weather is starting to change. We had a GREAT summer and fall seems to be sneaking up on us. The temperature has dropped to a wonderful 60 - 65 degrees.
