A quiet day

Not much happened today. Watched some football and relaxed. Heidi went to see the horses. Xen was outside playing most of the day.

12 Years
Leave comment
Today is our 12 year anniversary. I can say without doubt that we both will remember this anniversary. We went to see some live entertainment in Pueblo, Colorado. The show was the worse to say the least. Heidi was laughing through most of it.

The singing was off key, the acting was non-existant and the audience was very, very forgiving.

But we had a great laugh and I guess that's what counts.

Not a good drive
Leave comment
I went to work in Denver this morning. The roads were clear in Colorado Springs, however in Monument, it was a mess. I drove 25 miles per hour for about 10 miles.

After work, I-25 (the interstate between Denver and Colorado Springs) was clear. The tempature was 65 degress. It turned out to be a beautiful day.

Xen had some friends spend the night.

Lots of Snow
Leave comment
Well it snowed. Lots of snow. I had to shovel the drive way. It was a wet snow and very heavy.

Xen was out building a fort of snow. He was having a snow ball fight with the neighbors.

By 6:00 pm most of the snow was removed from the roads. The tempature was around the 40s.

We went to a wine tasting with Nancy and Mike. I am not a fan of wine, however Heidi loves the grape. It was a fun time. After the tasting we went out for dinner.

Bows, Magic and Music

Xen and his friend Matt eagerly started their Junior Olympic Archery Development group. They are both so into the whole Renaissance Era and all of the weapons, this was a suitable sport. They both did quite well on their first day and are aspiring Olympiads in the future 2012 Olympic Archery competition in London, England.

Go boys!

The McDowells and the Millers met for dinner and then off to the Pueblo Symphony featuring Lyn Dillies, female magician. We had an interesting dinner. The waitress was on her own for the first time. She was having a challenging evening. The up side was we all got dessert for free!

Camping - day 3
Leave comment
He and his team of "Mad Cows" learned about survival skills in case they get lost in the woods. One of these skills was to make a shelter to get through the night. They did a fantastic job on this hut. It was incredibly sturdy and warm inside. Go Mad Cows!

Well Xen got a taste of camping. His whole class went on a 6th Grade Camp to Camp Shadybrook in Deckers, Colorado last week. Heidi chaperoned the girl’s cabin with some other Moms and Xen got to stay with one of his friends Dads in the boy’s cabin. His chaperone was pretty cool. The entire group stayed up most of the night and had pillow fights and night hikes. Xen had a blast and hasn't stopped talking about it.

Heidi's friends and fellow camp chaperons as they waited patiently for the kids to go to the campfire. Perhaps they needed a cocktail!

Camping - day 2

Xen with his posse, the "Cows", which in classic 6th grade style they renamed themselves to the "Mad Cows".

In a team building exercise the kids learned how to work together on a canoe. However, Heidi could hear Xen screaming at his crew from a mile away. I guess he needs to work on his management skills.

Xen climbed the wall like Superman on one of his life skill exercises.

Three day camping?
Leave comment
Heidi and Xen started their 3 day camping trip. Can you believe it? Heidi, in the woods, without phone service, for three days?

If you could call it roughing it; this was Xen's cabin.
